Skinny Jeans: A Round-up

One of the best parts of being your own boss is being able to wear whatever you want to work. For me, that means wearing skinny jeans at least 4 days a week. But the worst part of being able to wear denim to work? Finding options that fit really well. Because, you see, I am a woman blessed with booty. I'm not a Kardashian by any means but in the immortal words of Sir Mix A Lot, "Baby Got (some) Back". This makes finding flattering jeans rather hard so when I find something that works, I tend to go a little nuts. This fall, thanks to luck and the suggestion of a (wonderful) client,  I've found a few new affordable (two are under $50!) brands of jeans to add to my arsenal of more expensive designer options.

Here's what I've found that works for my body; given that I've seen all of them looking gorgeous on other women as well, I'm guessing that these might work for many different body types, not just mine:

1.) Old Navy's The Rockstar Mid-Rise Super Skinny Jeans ($35.00):  I love black jeans and these are my new favorite. The fit is fabulous and they don't bag out (although truth be told, they do fade a little over time) and you can't beat the price. I also have the high-rise version and it's a toss-up over which style I prefer. **They're currently having a 35% off sale with free 2-day shipping; use promo code "CHEER" at checkout!**

2.) J.Crew Factory's Midrise Skinny jean in Distressed Indigo ($79.50): I just got these (a factory store opened near me and it is very, very, dangerous) and I adore them. Really comfortable, really flattering and a great length for all shoes. They also make this style in velvet and I just got them; they fit beautifully and are perfect for upcoming holiday parties! **They're currently having a 40% off sale on everything in stores and online; making the denim $39.50 and the velvet $52.50!**

3.) Madewell's Skinny Skinny Jeans in Waterfall Wash ($128): This is definitely the most expensive option but they are well worth it because these jeans are ah-maz-ing. They are form fitting without being tight, are just the right length and they never seem to bag out at the knees. Yes, they are more of an investment but they're still significantly cheaper than the designer brands. **Definitely sign up for their newsletter; they 20-30% off sales pretty regularly.**

On another note, have you guys tried any of the capes/cloaks that are popping up everywhere this season? I just caved and got the one from this post and OMFG people, I'm in love. The only downside is that I can't wear my beloved blanket scarf at the same time without looking like a bag lady.

  2. Yeah, I love the high-rise ones too; I think I may actually prefer them over the mid-rise. They look so cute with boots and a silk-shirt tucked in at the waist. Instant 70s glam; perfect for drinks with friends or the hubby.
